Vision and Mission
Vision
The Flexible Display Center at Arizona State University focuses the combined resources, talents and technologies of the federal government, industry and university partners to provide an unparalled core capability and national asset in flexible display technology creation. Collectively, this unique partnership provides
- the intellectual capacity to deliver cutting-edge scientific inquiry, applied research and advanced engineering development by interdisciplinary, cross-functional teams,
- the physical environment and infrastructure to enable intensive collaborative technology co-development, display prototype delivery, and longer-range research,
- the financial capacity to enable FDC activity through highly-leveraged funding and in-kind contributions, and
- a disciplined business-oriented focus required to ensure timely, on or under-budget delivery of all elements of the FDC mission.
Mission
The FDC Mission is to advance full-color flexible display technology while catalyzing development of a vibrant flexible display industry by contributing to and accelerating development of human capital, tools, facilities, and intellectual property. In the execution of this mission as depicted in the diagram below, the FDC will:
- develop and supply integrated full-color flexible display prototypes and technology demonstrators to the Army,
- develop and supply engineering demonstrators, flexible display prototypes and technology demonstrators to the Army,
- provide and support large area process and tool development with process integration in a Design for Manufacturing paradigm,
- leverage and expand the portfolio of display and display component technologies, and
- catalyze economic development of the commercial flexible display industry.
