Duties and Responsibilities |
|
* Creates designs, layouts for electrical display assemblies including pixel drive circuitry, test equipment and integrated control systems.
* Create display electronic hardware and software for emerging display technologies, specifically active matrix driven OLED, EPD, chLCD displays.
* Create video control hardware for video image generation on emerging display technologies using bit streaming and compressed formats.
* Create image control hardware and software for high resolution image content using bmp, jpg, pgm, png, gif and lossless compression.
* Independently plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering assignments while receiving technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
* Coordinates, assembles and constructs prototype hardware.
* Coordinates the troubleshooting and repair of a wide variety of equipment and instrumentation and/or performs testing and troubleshooting of experimental equipment and systems and performs repairs, modifications or adjustments to eliminate malfunctions.
* Trains faculty, staff and students in operation of equipment.
* Supervises and coordinates the work activities of engineers, drafters, technicians and others who assist in specific assignments. Coordinates with other project group members and supervisor on technical problems.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field AND four (4) years of engineering or related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. |

Desired Qualifications |
|
Experience with PCB Layout/Design Tools, PCB development, assembly and troubleshooting, PSPICE circuit simulation. |

Design and construction of custom hardware and instrumentation to support the development of emerging display technologies, active matrix driven EPD, OLED, chLCD, LCD and other platforms. The job functions include design, simulation, layout, fabrication, modification, installation and/ or testing of electrical components, equipment and systems for display systems and sub-assemblies. The candidate shall apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices over a wide technical range that may include complex and conflicting features, in a cooperative environment of internal groups and external partners. |

Display Design Engineer - Position 14960
Job Location: Department of Flexible Display Center, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ 85287-0808
Job Duties: Develop project plans and work with different research groups and external partners to develop advanced flexible electronics and display demonstrators; design, simulation and layout using EDA software for active matrix backplanes and circuits; design mask set for 6-in wafer scale and GEN II amorphous silicon pilot lines; research advanced thin film devices and circuits such as amorphous silicon, nanocrystalline and ZnO TFTs and conduct independent experiments to characterize these devices and circuits; implement CMOS VLSI design techniques for automating design, layout and simulation of amorphous silicon TFT circuits; independently plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering assignments; coordinate software and hardware requirements for display demonstrators including electronic drivers, system control, and host interfacing; perform TFT Characterization using Keithley 4200 SCS, data collection and analysis; design, develop and characterize advanced circuits on plastic and stainless steel substrates; submit research papers to Journals and Conferences on advanced displays and flexible electronics; Mentor new PhD/MS students in research..
